Trouble Gaining Access? Getting Barcode Problem Messages?

If you or a student are having a problem getting your library barcode activated or gaining access to library items here are instructions on who to contact.

Baruch College:

If you need to activate your barcodes, please email circulation@baruch.cuny.edu and list the following:

  1. Full Name
  2. EMPLID
  3. Barcode

Please allow 24 hours to update your account!

Note: users and librarians from other schools can be directed here as well

Brooklyn College

If you need to activate your barcodes, please email Nowicki BNowicki@brooklyn.cuny.edu or refdesk@brooklyn.cuny.edu and list the following:

  1. Full Name
  2. EMPLID
  3. Barcode

Please allow 24 hours to update your account!

CCNY:

If you need to activate your barcodes, please email tpickens@ccny.cuny.edu and list the following:

  1. Full Name
  2. EMPLID
  3. Barcode

NYCCT

If you need to activate your barcodes, please email the Circulation Department at NYCCTCirculation@citytech.cuny.edu, and list the following:

  1. Provide a copy of the your ID and address
  2. Full Name
  3. EMPLID
  4. Barcode

City Tech ID's have the barcode and EMPLID on the front.

Fill out an online account request form external link.,

A barcode will be mailed to you.

No need for barcode activation to access databases. Users are prompted to log in with their GC network username and password. However, user's can still request activation at circ@gc.cuny.edu

Hostos Community College:

If you need to activate your barcodes, please email circ@hostos.cuny.edu and list the following:

  1. Full Name
  2. EMPLID
  3. Barcode (16 digit number located on the back of your ID card)

Please allow 24 hours to update your account!

No need for barcode activation to access databases. Users are prompted to log in to the proxy server with their Hunter College NetID and password (https://netid.hunter.cuny.edu/)

  1. Full Name
  2. EMPLID
  3. Barcode

Medgar Evers College:

Craig Newmark Grad School of Journalism:

If you need to activate your barcodes, please email research@journalism.cuny.edu and list the following:

  1. Full Name
  2. EMPLID
  3. Barcode
  4. Tell them if you had a barcode in the past, or if this is for first time creation.

Queensborough Community College:

Students and faculty that haven't activated their card for off-campus database access may email Connie Williams cwilliams@qcc.cuny.edu or Natasha Thomas nthomas@qcc.cuny.edu and list the following:

  1. Full Name
  2. EMPLID
  3. Barcode (14 digit barcode beginning with 22371)

To check if your card is activated, please try logging in to your account.

  • No need to activate barcodes currently as you can access databases by going to the library through student off-campus access (VPN).
  • Click on "student" on the off campus box on the right hand side of the library home page.
  • The log-in is the log-in (network ID) you use to log-into a York computer on campus.
  • Then click on library and use the databases as if you are on campus.
