CUNY LIBRARIES ARE OPEN both ONLINE and on campus! We are open online for reference & instruction. E-resources are fully available. CUNY Libraries physical spaces are also open for quiet study, computers and wifi, materials pickup, and more. Please note that library plans are subject to change based on the evolving pandemic situation and plans at each campus. At this time, due to the pandemic, campus access (including libraries) may be restricted to each campus’ current students, faculty and staff. Some libraries require reservations. Please check our College Libraries page for details about the library you plan to visit.

Alma Training: Authentication

Authentication in Alma

In Aleph, staff logging into the client used internal, Aleph-only credentials that needed to be provisioned by the Office of Library Services. When passwords were forgotten or accounts were suspended for inactivity, staff in the libraries had to open work orders to reinstate their accounts.

In Alma, staff logging into the system for their day-to-day operations will use the familiar CUNY Login authentication method. This is the same set of credentials you use to sign into Blackboard, CUNYfirst, and other CUNY-wide applications. You will not have to maintain a separate username and password in Alma. All users (faculty, staff, and students) who need to access Alma will do so using their CUNY Login credentials.

More details about all of this work will be shared as progress is made.
