The Office of Library Services leads a monthly WebEx series for campus administrators and invited guests. The agenda is established collaboratively at the beginning of the semester. While these sessions are not shared publicly, anyone in CUNY Libraries may email the CUNY Scholarly Communications Librarian, Megan Wacha, for access to the recording.

(Un)Sustainable Publishing Models (05/11/17)
This session focused on CUNY Academic Works and sustainable open access publishing efforts -- including CUNY-based publishing services as well as fees paid in support of CUNY publications (see: APCs). The conversation included a round of mythbusting APC-Style and invitation to join the Scholarly Communications Committee as it conducts an environmental scan of CUNY based publishing services. Open Discussion (04/13/17)
The session provided an open discussion in order to provide more opportunities to share what we’re working on (or want to be working on). As such, the conversation was not recorded. (SLIDES)
Student Work in CUNY Academic Works (03/02/17)
This session focused on student works in CUNY Academic Works, including faculty-student collaborations, undergraduate theses, and, yes, even the occassional student self-submission. In addition to discussing collection policies and workflows, special attention is given to the legal and ethical implications of including student works. (SLIDES)
Establishing Priorities (02/02/17)
Based on input from Academic Works Coordinators at CUNY campuses, this session focused on establishing and implementing priorities in collection development within current constraints. The session was discussion based, and attendees were asked to come prepared to share and develop their goals and priorities for the semester ahead. (SLIDES)
ballet dancer At the Margins of CUNY Academic Works (12/21/16)
This session discussed seven cases of content at the margins of CUNY Academic Works -- Can you include a photo exhibition? A dance performance? What if you want to transfer a blog to Academic Works? Why should you submit an article if it’s published in an open access journal? (SLIDES)
data management poster Open Conversation: Research Data Management (11/16/16)
This session was not recorded in order to promote as open a conversation as possible. Wacha provided a brief introduction to research data management and current issues, and participants then responded to four prompts. (SLIDES)
The CV Review (10/19/16)
CV reviews are recognized as one of the best ways to recruit faculty research for the repository, and they can seem fairly straightforward. In practice, however, the CV review is an exercise in overcoming barriers and draws upon expertise in copyright, outreach, and project management. (SLIDES) (RECORDING)

Public Access Mandates (11/30/15)
Federal and private funding agencies increasingly require that the results of grant funded research are made publicly accessible in an open access repository, such as CUNY Academic Works. This webinar details the history of these mandates and the implications for CUNY. (SLIDES) (RECORDING)
