Staffing Types, FTEs and Expenses Lines 1-9

# FTE Expenses - Salaries

1A. Librarians

Any Librarian, full-time or adjunct, with a title of

  • Lecturer
  • Instructor
  • Assistant Professor
  • Associate Professor
  • Professor
  • Chief Librarian.
  • Base FTE on a 35-hour week.  

Examples:

  • Most CUNY libraries seem to be open around 46 weeks a year, meaning one full-time adjunct works 1,610 hours per year (35X46).
  • For example: Two adjuncts working 805 hours per year each would equal one FTE (805X2/1610).
  • Adjust the formula based upon your library's schedule.

 

1B. Librarians salaries and wages (excluding fringe)

 

2A. Other Professional Staff # FTE

HEOs and CLTs, full-time or adjunct, in the Library. Base FTE on a 35-hour week.   

Examples: 

  • Most CUNY libraries seem to be open around 46 weeks a year, meaning one full-time adjunct works 1,610 hours per year (35X46).
  • For example: Two adjunct CLTs working 805 hours per year each would equal one FTE (805X2/1610).
    • Adjust the formula based upon your library's schedule.
2B. Other Professional Staff salaries and wages (excluding fringe)

4A. All other paid staff  # FTE

  • COAs
  • Gittlesons
  • IT support assistants
  • CAs who are NOT CUNY students.

Base FTE on a 35-hour week as above.

Examples: 

  • Most CUNY libraries seem to be open around 46 weeks a year, meaning one full-time adjunct works 1,610 hours per year (35X46)

  • For example: Ten college assistants working 161 hours per year each would equal one FTE (161*10/1610).

    • Adjust the formula based upon your library's schedule.

4B. All other paid staff salaries and wages (excluding fringe)

5A. Student assistants # FTE

Student Assistants are work-study students, student aides,and CAs who are currently CUNY students. Base FTE on a 35-hour week.   

Examples: 

  • Most CUNY libraries seem to be open around 46 weeks a year, meaning one full-time adjunct works 1,610 hours per year (35X46)

  • For example: Ten college assistants working 161 hours per year each would equal one FTE (161*10/1610).

    • Adjust the formula based upon your library's schedule.

5B. Student assistants salaries and wages (excluding fringe)

 

7. Number of hours to work per week to be considered "full time" at the institution
